Every spring Basel hosts the largest watch and jewelry trade show in the world. I thought it would be a good place to draw people, something I'm trying to practice more often. It was very busy outside the exhibition center and I quickly became frustrated by not being able to sketch the (fast-moving) visitors. I decided to draw some parked car instead. In that moment, two policemen crossed the road towards me and asked me what I was drawing. When I showed it to them, they said it was nice and left, wishing me a good day. They were very friendly and didn't bother me at all, but I thought it was a funny idea, that somebody drawing on a piece of paper could do more harm than the thousand of visitors taking pictures with their digital cameras. Well, I guess we could take it as a compliment.
