My last post of the year. I'm happy I managed to fulfill last's year resolution: posting at least one sketch a week. I've learned from the exercise and I've got quicker at sketching but at times making it a duty took the fun out of drawing. On one hand I think it's a pity to give up the habit, on the other hand I don't want it to become a burden. Anybody willing to take up the baton so that I can relax and post once a month :-)?
Anyway... happy 2014 to everyone!

Croatian Faces
I'm right now in Zagreb, Croatia spending the holidays with my wife and her family. I find that every place in the world has its own graphic quality - the marks of a culture as seen through the way that people adorn their world, the mustaches, the wrinkles on a face, a hair style or length of eye lashes. These drawings were drawn on my iPhone, using the Zen Brush app.

Aeschenplatz
A good place to sketch on rainy days because of the many covered tram stops. I had to hurry up because it was getting dark. I'm glad to have the shortest day of the year behind us. It's all upswing from here.

Quick sketch in Langenbruck
There was a nice indoor Christmas market in Langenbruck today and many visitors came by car. I guess it doesn't look this urban on a regular day.

Sunday in Marktplatz
I was sorry I missed Dr. Sketchy this week, even more after seeing Olivia's, Urs' and Nathaniel's sketches. They made me feel like drawing people again but I didn't find time until today.
Yesterday the city was crowded and I expected the shops would open on Sunday for the avid Christmas shoppers, but it turned out everything were closed and there were only a couple of tourists. At least it was sunny and not too cold to sketch.

More Dr. Sketchy with Nini de Paris
I was in Basel while this event took place, and was very happy to have been able to participate. Nini de Paris was very expressive in her poses and costume, which made her fun to draw. The organizers mentioned that they might begin an event closer to Geneva. I hope that happens! I've missed drawing the model since moving here.

Nini de Paris at Dr. Sketchy's

Here are 3 quick drawings from my local velodrome, the Vel d'Hiv in Geneva, where I like to ride.
I'll be in Basel at the Dr. Sketchy event this Wednesday evening. If anybody plans to be there, shoot me a message. I'd like to meet some others in the group!

Schutzenmattpark
Almost no time to sketch lately. This I did with the last ten minutes of natural light this week... and my gloves on, of course.
